The First Draft Reading Series
Our reading series is an ongoing program that provides staged readings for new works. No deadlines, no fees, no crazy submission criteria.
We prefer plays that are written by playwrights from a lower economic background or plays that feature characters from those communities. However, submissions are open to all.
For our reading series we pair you with a director, cast your play, provide scripts for all involved, provide a venue, and promote your piece.
By having a reading with us you also join our community and the evening is designed to create a safe space to have your first draft read aloud, while also providing the early levels of support that could help push it towards its next phase.
Instructions:
1.) Write your first draft.
2.) Email your first draft to ThePlaywritingCollective@gmail.com
3.) PLEASE MARK "Reading Series Entry" in the Subject line along with the title of your play.
4.) In the body of the email tell us a little about yourself, why you're a playwright, and why the play your sending us in important to you.
That's it. That's the whole process!
